ΕΧΗΙΒΙΤΙΟΝ : 12 YEARS OF THE ISOLARIO PROJECT
12 years of research, activities and events organized by Media dell' Arte and the municipalities of several Cyclades islands will be presented in an exhibition in the Old Chryssopigi Monastery in Sikinos. It will be a presentation of the several areas of activity that have comprised the ISOLARIO project, such as:

  • Collection and digitalization of material of historical significance from the islands (records/photographs/documents)
  • Creation of the Oral Archive of the Cyclades Islands
  • Exhibitions
  • Summer festivals
  • Archeological convention in Sikinos regarding the Episkopi monument
  • European programmes.

MUSIC SEMINARS WITH GIORGOS PATERAKIS

  • Whom they are addressed to: to musicians, to amateur musicians, to completely music ignorants, to those who feel musically hopeless.
  • Content: familiarization with fundamental principles of music theory and how they are applied in musical praxis. We'll deal with notation (reading - writing– of musical text), we will comprehend the basic principles of the music theory and we will play / sing polyphony (instruments & voices).
    In the end we will present the fruit of our work to the public, in a small concert.
  • Language: Greek. Only brief things can be explained in English.
  • Duration: 30 hours, 7 days.
  • Cost: 40 euro per person.

GREEK DANCING CRASH COURSE
Seminar on Greek dances in view of the 25/7 party, where it can all be put to practice. Learn how to dance chaniotis, pentozali, ballos and other Greek dances so that you aren't just another by-stander. No registration needed, just be there!

MODERN DANCE WORKSHOP – DANCE PERFORMANCE
A 7-day modern dance workshop by the students of the Dancing Studio “AKTINA”. 6 dancers, under the instruction of their teacher, Betty Dramisioti, will work on a special choreography that will interact with the landscape and the people of Chora. The outcome of this workshop will be performed for the public on Friday 25/7.
Dancers: Eleni Vlachou, Danae Vorvila, Christina Zacharia, Rallou Karella, Ioanna Toliou, Stella Tripolitaki.

ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN
Activities for the children of the island and visitors alike. Treasure hunt, acting games and drama exercises under the instruction of Julia Pyrrou, actress and drama educator. Open & free participation.

NIGHT SKY OBSERVATION
Look up! The night sky in the islands is darker than anything we experience in the cities. We are going to take advantage of this and observe the night sky with the help of an 8-inch refractor telescope. A short astronomy lecture before the observation will help you appreciate what you are looking at.

MUSIC IN THE VILLAGE (CHORIO)
The “Happy” duet will perform Greek rembetiko and traditional music in the alleys of Chorio, the settlement opposite to Castro.

Fri. 25/7
FINAL PERFORMANCES OF ALL SEMINAR OUTCOMES
On the final day of the festival, all groups will present the outcomes of their seminars. The evening will begin with the modern dance performance, followed by a short concert by the music seminar group. Finally, there will be a big party held by the participants of the traditional dancing seminar which everybody will be welcome to join.
